Mark Holme

Over the years, wildlife and its environment has been a consistent theme in Mark's work, which traditionally consisted of wildlife and landscapes in oils, acrylic, and pen and ink.

But in the past year, Mark has been depicting the motion and anatomy of wildlife in wire sculpture. In his Wild Wire series, he uses 16 gauge industrial wire to "draw" his subject in 3D, oftentimes using only one piece of wire. His goal is to use the wire to create elements that speak to the essence of a particular animal, breaking down the animal to its unique motion, key features, or personality.

A native New Englander and graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University with a BFA in Visual Design, Mark lives in rural Massachusetts with his wife and two sons in a 300-year-old farmhouse.

Here are a few examples of his work.
