Daniel Koterbay

Daniel’s work explores narratives through painting, sharing stories through color and detail to encapsulate the essence of an event.

He starts with a story he wants to tell – fictional or factual – that serves as the foundation for his narrative. Daniel then grabs images from a variety of sources that are representative of the story and which, together, form a harmonious composition.

He then outlines each image, creating a play of spatial relationships, often between two-dimensional and three-dimensional, and accentuating each separate element.

Daniel’s goal at the end of each painting is to create a postmodern narrative that translates the essence of a story and brings together elements in a unified expression.

Here are a few examples of the work.
